How to Search Cases by Name
The Washington Courts Person Search requires first and last name and offers an optional middle name. It can find a person listed as a defendant, petitioner, respondent, or another litigant. Common names can produce false matches, so use the broader Case Search to add court level, court name, case type, and filing year. Check the role and case number before treating a result as the intended Lincoln County case.
- Open the state search and choose the right level: Superior, District and Municipal, or Appellate.
- Enter first and last name, adding the middle name when known.
- Select Lincoln County Superior Court or LINCOLN DISTRICT COURT, then narrow by type and year.
- Open a possible match and compare its number, filing date, caption, and party role.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| First Name | Text | Yes in name mode | Use the name as filed. |
| Last Name | Text | Yes in name mode | Required with first name. |
| Middle Name | Text | No | Helps separate similar people. |
| Court / Case Type | Dropdown | No | Narrows results to Lincoln and the correct jurisdiction. |
The official person-search screen illustrates the name fields.
Adding a middle name can reduce noise, but the court and case details still provide the key confirmation.
Lincoln County Case Search Levels
Choose Superior Court for felony, major civil, domestic, probate, guardianship, adoption, mental-health, and juvenile matters. Choose District and Municipal Courts for traffic, other infractions, misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, small claims, and qualifying civil cases. The municipal courts of Almira, Creston, Davenport, Harrington, Odessa, Reardan, Sprague, and Wilbur route through Lincoln District Court rather than eight separate public portals.
The Washington Courts Case Search exposes court level, court, case type, filing year, and search-mode controls.
Use Lincoln County Superior Court or LINCOLN DISTRICT COURT as the relevant choice. An incorrect level can make a known case appear missing.
How to Search by Case Number
Enter the court-assigned identifier exactly, including letters, hyphens, and leading zeroes. Lincoln County has not published one universal number pattern for every court level, so do not reformat it or invent missing separators. A cause number is another name for a Superior Court case number. For a traffic or criminal citation, begin with the citation/infraction/case number printed at the top right of the ticket.
If an exact number returns nothing, confirm the court level, whether the citation has been entered, and whether it is a city ordinance, infraction, or criminal matter. Search by party name as a cross-check, then call the proper clerk. A no-result screen does not prove that the case does not exist.
Lincoln County Odyssey Search
Lincoln County Superior Court participates in the Odyssey Portal. Public users can enter anonymously for public case information. Smart Search accepts a record number or a name in Last, First Middle Suffix order. Advanced options can separate first, middle, and last name and filter by location, search type, case type, case status, file-date range, and judicial officer. Dynamic lists must be read from the live portal.
The official portal landing view links Smart Search, Search Hearings, and Judgment Search.
Use Smart Search for the case record and Search Hearings when the immediate need is a scheduled Superior Court event.
The Smart Search form shows the record-number or name box and its advanced filters.
Odyssey requires JavaScript and cookies. If lists fail to populate, use a supported browser or contact the County Clerk.
Lincoln County Case Documents
An Odyssey case hit does not promise a downloadable filing. Anonymous access shows public case information, while document access depends on registration, clerk approval, role, and the county's document setup.
What a Case Search Shows
A Lincoln County case search can return the court, case number, caption, type, filing date, party role, status, event line, disposition or judgment indicator, and setting. Read the event sequence. A clerk event may be a filing or processing entry rather than a judicial ruling, and a minute entry is not always the signed order. Status labels such as active, disposed, or closed describe the case-management record.
| Case Number | Unique identifier; retain punctuation and leading zeroes. |
|---|---|
| Caption / Parties | Names and roles such as plaintiff, defendant, petitioner, or respondent. |
| Case Type | Civil, criminal, domestic, probate, infraction, small claim, or another court category. |
| Filed Date | Date the matter entered the court record, not necessarily the event date. |
| Status | Portal category such as active, disposed, or closed. |
| Docket Event | A filing, clerk action, hearing, order, or other step in sequence. |
Washington Superior Court entries may include short SCOMIS action codes. Use the official SCOMIS code list to decode them. A code meaning is not a substitute for the filed instrument.
Lincoln County Attorney Calendar Search
The statewide Attorney Search locates District and Municipal Court proceedings tied to a lawyer's Washington Bar Number. Its fields include required Bar Number, case date-range start, and a number of days from 1 through 90. The tool can also support a daily limited-jurisdiction calendar email delivered by 6 a.m. Court proceedings may still be rescheduled, so the state directs users to call the court on the morning of the event.
The official attorney-search form shows its bar-number and date-window controls.
This route is most useful when counsel is known. Party-name or case-number search remains better for a member of the public tracking one case.
Lincoln County Case SearchWA Route
re:SearchWA is an additional official limited-jurisdiction path. Because its static public list does not clearly guarantee full Lincoln District coverage, confirm a missing or vital result with District Court.
County vs Statewide Case Search
The statewide DW search crosses court levels and is useful when the case number or correct Lincoln County court is uncertain. Odyssey provides the deeper public interface for participating Superior Court cases. The county's own pages supply local calendar notices, clerk contacts, copy routes, and District Court information that neither statewide result replaces.
| Washington Courts DW | Odyssey and Lincoln County |
|---|---|
| Superior, District, Municipal, and Appellate search modes | Lincoln Superior case and hearing search plus local court notices |
| About-daily refresh for ordinary Case Search | Dynamic Odyssey data and local confirmation channels |
| Best when court level is uncertain | Best for a known Lincoln Superior matter or official clerk follow-up |
The Washington Courts landing page plainly warns that results are not the official record and may be incomplete or stale.
Use the warning as a workflow rule: identify the record online, then verify important facts with the court of record.
Lincoln County Search Fallbacks
When a portal fails or an older case is missing, use the custodian. The County Clerk public counter at 450 Logan Street, second floor, Davenport, handles Superior Court files and answers at 509-725-1401. Mail a specific Superior request to PO Box 68, Davenport, WA 99122. District Court is at 406 Sinclair Street, answers at 509-725-2281, and receives mail at PO Box 329. Ask about a public terminal at the relevant counter.
For a calendar issue, the Superior Administrator answers at 509-725-3081. JIS-Link offers paid statewide display information at $0.145 per transaction with a $13 monthly minimum, but it does not provide document images. re:SearchWA is an added limited-jurisdiction route, though its public list does not clearly guarantee complete Lincoln coverage. The county public-record form is for administrative records. Lincoln County states that RCW 42.56 does not govern non-administrative court documents, which go directly to Superior or District Court.
Note: Include the case number, party names, and document title in a mailed request, then confirm copy, certification, and postage cost.
Lincoln County Case Search Context
A public case index is not a criminal-history report and does not establish identity, a full history, or current outcome. Use the originating court file to understand a specific case.
Lincoln County Case Date Lookup
Case Search and Find My Court Date are not the same feed. The ordinary state case search is faster and refreshes about once each day, usually around 3 a.m. Find My Court Date reads a real-time transactional database for future District and Municipal Court events, though it can slow during peak hours. Select LINCOLN DISTRICT COURT and enter first and last name for that calendar task.
For a future Superior Court hearing, use Odyssey Search Hearings and compare the result with the county's posted docket. Then confirm a time-sensitive date with the correct office. The Lincoln County court dates resource explains the Tuesday blocks, special settings, cancellations, and direct confirmation steps.
Restricted Cases and Access Rules
Anonymous Odyssey users can see public case information but not documents. Registered document access depends on the County Clerk's authorization, the user's role, and local use of Odyssey Document Manager. Restricted cases are not available anonymously. Sealed records, protected information, and many juvenile matters may show limited metadata or nothing at all under court rules and case-specific orders.
A missing document link does not mean the document is public, unavailable, or nonexistent. Request the official file from the court that keeps it. The County Clerk handles Lincoln Superior Court records; District Court handles its traffic, misdemeanor, small-claims, and limited civil files. Access to a restricted file requires the procedure and authority set by the court, not a workaround in a search tool.
Official-record rule: Search data is a reference result. Certified copies and complete court records come from the originating Lincoln County clerk.
